Curry Leaf Restaurant | Our Story

A Journey Through Indian Flavors

Curry Leaf is a family-owned restaurant bringing authentic Indian flavors to Old Town Anacortes. Inspired by Kerala and cuisines from across India, every dish is made with traditional recipes, aromatic spices, and time-honored cooking methods. We believe great food starts with authenticity, care, and the warmth of a home-cooked meal.
Where the Recipes Come From

Where the Recipes Come From

Chef Shyni and her husband, Michael, began their culinary journey in Kerala, India, where they owned and operated two well-loved restaurants. Their first restaurant, Shyni’s Shanty Garden, quickly earned a loyal following for its authentic flavors. Its reputation grew so strong that the owner of a nearby five-star hotel would often personally bring VIP guests by van to enjoy Chef Shyni’s unforgettable cooking.
Anacortes, of All Places

Anacortes, of All Places

When Shyni and Michael moved to Anacortes, Washington — a fishing town on Fidalgo Island — authentic Kerala cooking simply didn't exist here. They started small, as Curry Leaf To Go, doing takeout and catering, until the community made it clear they wanted a real seat at the table.

Guests who meet Chef Shyni often say her passion shines through in every dish. Each curry, chutney, and dosa is made with care, tradition, and a genuine desire to bring people together through great food. At Curry Leaf, we invite you to experience that same warmth and authentic Indian hospitality—one delicious meal at a time.
